Environment English

It’s no secret that in recent years is very relevant issues related to the protection of the environment (environmental protection) and environmental situation as a single city or country, and the world at large. Now environmental issues (ecology) is given a lot of time: in higher educational institutions train specialists in this field; on environmental issues held various conferences and seminars at various levels; scientists are trying to find ways and means to reduce the level of pollution of water, air and soil (water / air / land pollution). That is why knowledge of environmental issues in the English language is so popular nowadays. Neglect of human nature and pollution led to the beginning of that nature to take revenge by arranging all sorts of disasters (natural disasters). Before we get down to the assimilation of the material on the theme «Environment in the English language» is necessary to define what we mean by this term.

What is the environment?

Under the «environment» we understand the natural habitat of man, that is all that surrounds us. The air, the sun, the sky, the rivers, seas, oceans, mountains, flora and fauna — all this is part of the surrounding nature (the environment). The study of the environment in the English language implies the study of environmental issues, ways to reduce the harmful effects (harmful / dangerous / damaging influence / effect) on the environment and natural disasters.

What harms the environment?

The harm (damage) environment causes people, namely his work (human activity). We pollute (pollute) the water, air and land pollution and in turn destroy (destroy) the environment, and sometimes to such an extent that any part of the environment is not never recover. Gradually destroys the ozone layer (the ozon layer), which protects us from radiation (radiation). On our planet, global warming is happening (the global warming), caused by a high concentration of carbon dioxide (carbon dioxide) in the atmosphere. Rains are acid (acid rains), that is, containing hazardous chemicals (chemicals). Among the major pests of the environment include: stack emissions (smoke emission), air pollutants, and industrial waste (dumping waste), water pollutants; exhaust gas transport (exhaust fumes), aerosol cans (aerosol cans), substances that deplete the ozone layer; Tropical forests (cutting down tropical forests), reduces the production of oxygen (oxygen) in the atmosphere (atmosphere); overpopulation (overpopulation).

How to help the environment?

To reduce the harmful effects of human activities on the environment need only observe a few conditions. Here are some tips to save the environment in the English language:

  • not to throw garbage (bottles, newspapers, etc.), which can be sent for reprocessing (recycling);
  • plant (plant) more trees and plants;
  • to save resources (do not waste resourses), for example, water, gas;
  • do not cut down the forest (do not cut forests);
  • use of environmentally friendly transport and goods (use ecologically clean transport and goods).

As nature takes revenge

The theme of «Environment in the English language» affects and problems of natural disasters (acts of the elements). The destructive activity of man, the constant desire to penetrate into inaccessible corners of nature led to the fact that in recent years the population of the planet are increasingly becoming victims of natural disasters (disasters). It is of volcanic eruptions (volcanic eruption), avalanches (avalanching), earthquakes (earthquakes), floods (floods), storms (hurricanes / tornadoes / typhoons). More and more land affected by drought (drought), and a growing number of people dying of hunger (famine) and epidemics (epidemics). Let’s hope that scientists will learn how to prevent these terrible catastrophe! But we have to make a contribution to environmental protection.
